Taxi falls in Ganga Canal, two women killed, one seriously injured !!
Two women were killed when a private taxi going from Dehradun to Kotdwar collapsed in the East Ganga Canal. The car driver was seriously injured. The injured have been admitted to the district hospital Bijnor.
Anil Kumar, a resident of Nehru Colony, Deepnagar, Dehradun, was going to Kotdwar with his wife Uma Devi (44 years) and tenant Shobhakala (50 years) from Private Treasurer Force Vehicle UK 12 TB / 0796. In an attempt to save the speeding vehicle coming from the front at 10 am on Sunday, while passing through the Chidipur to Samipur Canal track route, the taxi fell into the Rampurchatha Eastern Ganga Canal of Mandavali police station area and was completely covered in 10 to 12 feet of water. On the information of the passers, the police station in-charge of Mandavali, Sandeep Tyagi, along with the police force and divers, immediately reached the spot. The driver and Shobhakala were evacuated from the water taxi and immediately sent to Community Health Center, Samipur. Shobhakala was declared dead by the doctor. Subsequently, the taxi was ejected through a crane under the leadership of SDM Brijesh Kumar Singh, CO Praveen Kumar Singh, Tehsildar Radheshyam Sharma. The body of Uma Devi, wife of the driver Anil, was found by a taxi in the canal. Anil Kumar, seriously injured, has been admitted to the district hospital in Bijnor.
Later DM Ramakant Pandey, SP Dr Dharmveer Singh along with SP City Laxmi Niwas Mishra reached CHC Samipur and the spot informed about the incident from SDM and CO.
